Because every mom deserves to say “FOMIB”- this blog is for you.

We are working moms. We are super moms. We buy organic. We believe in letting our kids be kids. We give them freedom but we shield them from GMOs.

But, we haven’t lost ourselves or our sense of humor. In fact that’s what saves us every fucking screaming day of our lives as we juggle and struggle to maintain a sense of zen during these mommy years. We know they won’t last long. And we will miss these days one day sooner than we know it. But until then, we won’t feel shamed for doing things for ourselves every now and then. Whether its leaving a sink full of dirty dishes to take a nap, or taking a shot of Tito’s vodka mid-day- or choosing happy hour for bedtime cuddles. We need to do these self-indulgent things for the sake of our sanity. Even if it induces a smidge of mom guilt. Go with it.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I’m the odd mom out. I don’t do playdates. iIvalue my time alone and i say ‘fuck’. alot. my kids think i’m A+++++ cool and that i’m funnier than daddy. that spells success in my parenting books. I am very sarcastic and will make a joke out of anything. Sorry not sorry. I refuse to take my kids to Disneyworld. Sue me.

I thank my parents for making me a strong, independent woman and for always supporting me- even when that time when I snuck away on a trip to Montreal with seven of my guy friends (yes- i had more guy than girlfriends okay?!) but all in all, I thank them for teaching me that blazing my own trail is the only path to true happiness and to never follow. Anyone.

And that is the same lesson I strive to pass down to my two boys. I just want to raise nice, polite, mindful boys who learn to honor and respect the world they live in and the people they choose to surround themselves with. To always say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ and ‘you’re welcome’ (not ‘mmm hmmm’, as most Americans tend to rudely do), and to make sure they know the dangers of dairy and sugar and phake phoods.

My parenting style is a mix of conventional and unconventional. Just like my personality. I refuse to do what ‘experts say’ and the only piece of advice I give to new moms is, “don’t read any parenting books or blogs- use your instinct”.
